| Closing my eyes, I can almost see mama sitting on the back porch in her old blue plastic lawn chair. Mama loved being outside and most mornings, at least when the weather was nice, she'd take her coffee outside. She'd sit quietly, while the old cottonwood tree whispered its secrets and the birds gossiped and chattered. Many mornings I would join her there and we would both sit quietly together and soak up the sounds of nature. This morning, I took my morning coffee outside. As I wandered around the yard, looking at flowers and listening to birdsong, my thoughts turned to mama. Oh how I miss that woman in that old blue plastic lawn chair. |
