A Tribute to Mothers |

Dedicated to my mama
Jennie M. Oldemeyer
|
A mother's love
is like a beautiful garden,
nurtured with love and caring.
|
|
 |
Mother is the name for God
in the lips and hearts of little children.

Be close, dear God, to that vast throng of women
Whose children still are small...oh this we pray!
There is so much of hurt and havoc waiting
From which to shield young hearts this Mother's Day.
|
 |

Help them rear boys and girls, we ask, to follow
The kindly roads, with starry eyes that see
The visions that were meant for youth's awakening.
Let them find signs of new works yet to be!
And God, be with the weary, older mothers,
Who sit alone sometimes and wish they knew
If they have failed because their sons and daughters
Could never scale the heights they wished them to.
 |
 |
Oh, may they know if they have planted wisely
And helped a child stretch tall in heart and mind,
This holds more glory in Thy sight, dear Father,
Than all the hills their children never climbed.
